November 1st 07' saw the opening of the SEM (Single Electricity Market) for the island of Ireland. The AIP (All Ireland Project) is a joint initiative run by the CER (Commission for Energy Regulation) and the NIAUR (Northern Ireland Authority for Energy Regulation).
The aim of the project is to create a single market for natural gas and electricity on the island
of Ireland. The project was started following a joint policy decision by the Minister for Enterprise,
Trade and Investment in Northern Ireland and the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural
Resources in the Republic to create the all-island energy market. By creating a single market, both
jurisdictions will benefit from increased competition, reduced energy costs and improved reliability
of supply.
As a uSwitch247 user you can be amongst the first to benefit from reduced electricity rates simply
by sending us your details. As soon as we have competition and lower fuel bills we will negotiate on
your behalf with new entrants into the electricity market and secure cheaper electricity for
all of us.
Strength in numbers
With the strength of uSwitch247s customer base we aim to bring a minimum of 10,000 new customers
to one of the ESBs competitors with the sole aim of securing the best possible deal for our co-op so
please send this onto everyone you know who would benefit from lower electricity bills.
After negotiations with a new supplier, we will report directly back to you and should you still
wish for lower fuel bills we will then implement a seamless switch.
Remember, with a minimum of 10,000 new customers for a new electricity company in Ireland, we will
secure a very special deal for uSwitch247 users.
Please keep me in mind when uSwitch247 secures a better deal for electricity users in Ireland. I am at
no time under any obligation to switch supplier.
